Welcome to the webpages for Venticalmi Spinoni Italiani.  

Venticalmi is the Italian for 'gentle winds' which is the Italian translation for my 'Whisperwind' Kennel, details of which you will find under my Parson Terrier, Bubbles.

Since I  discovered the Spinone I have been delighted with my lovely girls, two of which have been imported direct from Europe and are co-owned with breed expert and author, Carolyn Fry (Bedeslea).  I have since added two beautiful dogs (Matteo and Giulia "Julia" )from Couchfield Kennel in New York. It is our goal to maintain all the characteristics of this breed - the gentle, patient and docile nature, the beautiful expressive eye and unique head shape, the typical substance, body and outline and  last but not least, the natural hunting ability and intelligence of this incredible Italian breed. 

We believe it is very important that the Spinone remains what it is - a unique hunting dog - it should all be able to do what it was bred to do - work with its master on a variety of terrains to 'fill the pot' - however, it should also illustrate the correct structure and breed type. Losing the beautiful head, expression, topline and balance would be a great loss to this beguiling and unusual breed.  Our aim is to breed with the 'whole' Spinone in mind, so that our new owners can enjoy what we enjoy in our beautiful dogs.
